Supply and install
What flooring installation in Toronto includes
We supply your floor and install it, and can take up the old one and move the furniture first. Condos and homes across the GTA.
What supply and install includes
- The floor and its underlay, installed, with cutting waste in the price.
- Expansion gaps and transitions fitted to the manufacturer's specification.
- Floor protection and dust control while we work, and the offcuts and packaging taken away after.
- The extras you choose in the estimate: taking up the old floor, baseboards and trim (they cover the gap where the floor meets the wall), and moving furniture and appliances.
- Stairs, priced separately: see stair flooring.
The seven steps from estimate to walk-through, with photos, are on how a Floorrable job runs.
Old floor removal, priced by what comes up
Taking up a floor is two costs: the labour to get it up and the disposal of what comes out. Both change with the material. Carpet is cut into strips and rolled, and a floating floor unclicks. Glued vinyl and nailed hardwood are pried up and the residue scraped. Ceramic tile is chipped off the subfloor with dust containment, which makes a much longer day, and transfer stations charge by weight, so tile with mortar on it costs several times what carpet does to dispose of.
That is why the estimate asks what is on the floor now (carpet; laminate or click vinyl; glued-down vinyl or lino; hardwood; or ceramic or stone tile) and prices the removal to match. Not sure what you have? Choose “Not sure” and the measurement visit settles it.
The subfloor check
Once the old floor is up, the subfloor is checked for level, moisture and soundness before anything goes over it. A subfloor can only be judged at that point. If it needs levelling, patching or damp treatment, we stop, show you what we found and price it, and you decide whether to go ahead. Nothing is added to your bill without your written OK.
Every job is photographed before, during and after: the bare subfloor once the old floor is up, and the prep and underlay before the planks cover them.
Moving furniture and appliances
Nothing can be installed under furniture, so it all has to move. The estimate asks who does it. Clearing the rooms yourself is free. Otherwise we move the furniture out of the way and put it back, and you can add the fridge, stove, washer, dryer or dishwasher, each of which is a disconnect and a reconnect rather than just a lift.
We move things within your home, not out of the unit or into storage. Some items go to a specialty mover instead: pianos and organs, safes and gun cabinets, aquariums and terrariums, pool and billiard tables, wall-mounted televisions, antiques, art and anything irreplaceable.
In Ontario only a TSSA-certified gas technician may disconnect and reconnect a gas line, so our flooring crew never touches one. If your stove or dryer runs on gas, we book a licensed technician for the day and it appears as its own line in your estimate.
Installing in a condo
Condo buildings set their own acoustic and underlay rules, and most want an approval application before work starts. We check your building's requirements and prepare the paperwork your board or property manager wants to see before any material is ordered. On the day we work to the building's permitted renovation hours and the elevator window you booked with management. More on condo flooring and building approvals.

A floating floor clicks together and is not fastened down. Which wood floor suits a slab or a wood subfloor is on hardwood flooring, and every floor is in the full catalogue. Common questions, from payment to furniture, are answered in the flooring FAQs.
